About Ameena

A Journey Through Words

Ameena Tabassum is a British Bangladeshi author, born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Although she has spent most of her life in the UK—where she completed her studies, started a family, and pursued her career—her heart remains tied to her homeland. After graduating with a BSc Honours in Mathematics and Computer Science from King’s College London, she went on to earn an MSc in Public Management from the University of Birmingham.

While her career has been rooted in data, her true passion lies in writing, especially in her mother tongue, Bangla. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she began to take her writing seriously, eventually publishing five novels in Bangla, all of which gained popularity and critical acclaim. Matritto (Motherhood) is the translated version of her first novel.

Ameena resides in leafy Surrey with her husband, their two children, and a cat named Aura.
